In plain words

Place is one of the ten foundational kinds and answers where something exists, occurs, applies, moves or belongs: a field, a farm, a watershed boundary or a jurisdiction. A watershed used as spatial context is distinct from the watershed as a LivingSystem, and the two may be explicitly related.
