Concepts

Every term, quoted and cited.
The specification controls.

Each concept is defined by a quotation from one of the Core Specifications (01–06), linked to the section it comes from. Definitions are specification-sourced and pending the applicable specification-owner approvals. This site adds explanation, the distinctions between terms and where each one sits in the model. It never adds a competing definition.

READING A CONCEPT

How to read a concept

A concept page answers four questions, always in the same order.

01

What does it mean?

The definition, quoted verbatim from a Core Specification, with its section. The build fails if the quotation drifts from the source.

02

Where does it sit?

Its plane, its state category (Canonical, Derived, Operational or Projection, or contextual where the specification allows more than one) and, for the eleven stages, its place in the canonical progression.

03

What is it not?

The distinctions RSM preserves, each with the section that draws it. Distinctions are recorded on both terms.

04

Where is it governed?

The specification sections that govern it and the pages that explain it.

VIEW 1 · THE CANONICAL PROGRESSION

Eleven stages, in order

Each stage names the artifact it produces and that artifact's state category. Evidence is not a stage: it supports propositions throughout, and stays distinct from them.

  2. 02DiscoveryDerived
  3. 03ConfigurationDerived
  4. 04GapDerived
  5. 05PathwayDerived
  6. 06CommitmentCanonical

  11. 11BiographyProjection

VIEW 2 · THE THREE PLANES OF ONE ECOLOGY

Planes are views, not partitions

Evidence and Biography belong to two planes. Terms that cut across all three, such as the state categories, are listed under A–Z.

VIEW 3 · DISTINCTIONS

What each term is not

The distinctions RSM preserves. Each pair is recorded on both concepts and cites the section that draws it.
